Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has expressed pride in his stint with Bundesliga side FC Augsburg, though he admits disappointment that the club fell short of its objectives, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Onyeka joined Augsburg on loan from Premier League club Brentford during the winter transfer window and quickly became a key figure in the squad.
"My main goal coming here was to start every game possible, and I achieved that," Onyeka said.
"Credit to the coach and the players who believed in my ability to contribute to the team."
Reflecting on the season, he added: "I did everything I could to help the team, and while I’m partially satisfied with my performance, I'm disappointed we couldn’t achieve the goals we set as a club."
The midfielder praised the club's atmosphere and support: "I want to thank the club for making me feel so welcome. When I first arrived, I thought it would be difficult, but everyone made it easier. I’m leaving with a good feeling."
Looking ahead, Onyeka remains optimistic for Augsburg's future: "We did some great things this season. Unfortunately, we lost and drew some games that cost us. But credit to everyone—the players and the coaches. I hope the team achieves more next season."
