The update coming from the camp of the Belgian Jupiler League side KAA Gent is not palatable as Nigeria's Super Eagles forward Gift Orban has suffered an injury relapsed, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The youngster has been battling with a groin injury since he was invited for the 2023 African Cup of Nations final round of qualifiers.

He made a scoring return to the team on Thursday when he scored for Gent in the UEFA Europa League.

The club manager Van Hein Vanezebrouk confirmed his injury on Sunday after a league game.

"Gift had a problem that had been going on for a while, but it was under control and we thought he was fit yesterday," Vanhaezebrouck is quoted by Het Nieuwsblad.

"During the warm-up, he felt something again when he did a few sprints.

Today he did some exercises and worked with the physiotherapists.

We now have to wait and see," he said, crossing his fingers that the striker will get fit quickly.
