Oriental Derby: Rangers' Nweke Returns to Umuahia, Anticipates Good Reception

Former captain of Abia Warriors, Kalu Nweke who pitched tent with Rangers Int'l of Enugu said he is anticipating a warm reception from the home fans in the Oriental Derby clash in Umuahia, writes BSNSports.com.ng.

The Umuahia-based side will host Rangers in one of the Oriental Derbies of Match Day 10 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League while their neighbours, Enyimba Int'l travel to Owerri to lock horns with Heartland FC.

BSNSports scooped from NPFL Tori Podcast after Nweke said it would be an honor for him to return to his former thumping ground in the derby. 

The midfield maestro said he anticipates the fans and his friends to support the Flying Antelopes who are in high spirits after the goalless draw with Katsina United in their last league game. 

He said: "We are preparing for our next match against Abia Warriors, my former team. I was their captain last season. It's a beautiful team that I love so much. It's going to be an honor going back there to see the people I love, even the fans because I know that they are going to welcome me with lots of things. 

"It's going to be an exciting game but one thing I am sure, I'm now in Rangers. I expect the fans to come out, my friends over there to support Rangers because I'm now with Rangers Int'l."
