Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has called on the state and Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure the release of students and teachers abducted by bandits in recent attacks on schools across Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The kidnappings, which involved pupils and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State and three schools in Borno State on May 15, have sparked widespread outrage and renewed concerns about insecurity in the country.

Oshoala, a six-time African Women's Player of the Year, is among the latest public figures to condemn the growing wave of kidnappings. She also renewed calls for comprehensive reforms to Nigeria’s security architecture to address the persistent threat posed by criminal groups.

The appeal came on Friday after the former Barcelona forward converted a penalty in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Senegal in an international friendly match played at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Using the platform provided by the match, Oshoala urged authorities to take decisive action to ensure the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers.

Meanwhile, peaceful protests demanding the release of the victims have continued in several states across the country, as concerns grow over the increasing number of children being held in captivity.

The latest incidents rank among the most significant school abductions in recent years and have revived painful memories of the Chibok and Dapchi kidnappings, which drew global attention and highlighted the vulnerability of schools in parts of Nigeria.

Security analysts and civil society groups have continued to call for stronger preventive measures, improved intelligence gathering, and enhanced protection for schools to prevent future attacks. This version follows a standard newspaper style with improved structure, accuracy, clarity, and neutrality.
