Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala was the heroine for Al Hilal on Friday night as she struck deep into stoppage time to hand her side a thrilling 3-2 victory over Ashleigh Plumptre’s Al Ittihad in the Saudi Women’s League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The highly anticipated clash between the two Nigerian internationals lived up to its billing, with both teams producing an end-to-end contest.

Al Hilal took the early initiative and went into the break with a slender advantage.

However, Al Ittihad, buoyed by the presence of Plumptre in defence, showed resilience in the second half. In the 85th minute, Plumptre made her mark when she provided the assist for the equaliser that brought the game level at 2-2, setting up a dramatic finale.

But just when it seemed the points would be shared, Oshoala showcased her trademark composure in front of goal.

In the 90+3 minute, the former Barcelona striker latched onto a late chance and buried the winner, sealing maximum points for Al Hilal.

The result means Al Hilal maintains their strong push at the top of the Saudi Women’s League, while Al Ittihad will be left rueing a late lapse that denied them a share of the spoils.

The encounter once again highlighted the growing influence of Nigerian stars in the league, with both Oshoala and Plumptre playing decisive roles for their respective clubs.
