Oshodi Anticipates Fierce Battle At ITTF Africa Championships

President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), Wahid Oshodi, has predicted a highly competitive showdown at this year’s ITTF-Africa Championships, highlighting the exceptional form and depth of talent among participating players, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Oshodi lauded the Tunisian Table Tennis Federation for stepping up to host the continental showpiece after Rwanda’s withdrawal, applauding their professionalism and proven record in staging major international tournaments.

He expressed particular excitement about the influx of young stars who have broken into their national teams, noting that their presence will add a fresh spark to the championships scheduled for October 12–19 in Tunis.

“There’s no doubt this year’s tournament will be fiercely contested, especially considering the impressive form of our players and the rise of outstanding young athletes,” Oshodi said

. “It’s exciting to see several junior players who participated in the recent Youth Tournaments in Lagos now making their national teams. Their inclusion shows growth, maturity, and readiness to challenge the established stars.”

Oshodi also emphasized the importance of experienced players, whose quality and leadership will make the tournament even more thrilling.

 “We must acknowledge the experience of our seasoned players their presence will elevate the level of competition. The atmosphere in Tunis will be world-class,” he added.

 The ATTF President concluded by praising Tunisia’s readiness and reiterating the significance of the team event, which serves as a qualifier for the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships in London.
