Osimhen: I'm 100 Percent Not Leaving Napoli
Ibraheem Lateef Ayodele
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has insisted he has no reason to leave Napoli despite being a target for a few top European clubs, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.
"Not even 100 per cent, 1,001 per cent. I am at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, one of the best leagues in Europe," Osimhen said.
His form in Serie A and the Champions League has seen him linked with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Nigeria international spoke to OmaSports and was asked about his life, his career and whether he is happy in his current circumstances at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona and if he has surpassed his expectations.
“Not even 100 per cent, 1,001. I set the standard for myself. This is the life I want to live. When things were not going so well for me, I kept on believing, kept on praying, kept on working hard, I did other jobs before coming back to my love, football.
“To get to where I am today, there were a lot of obstacles, a lot of hate, and backstabbing, my success came with love, pain, tears, failures, and things like that.
“Some people said ‘we give him two seasons, two clubs rejected him in Belgium, he cannot do that and compare me with past players. I saw those things, I’m human. Footballers are human also.
“So either I take it the way they say it or I prove them wrong. I am in one of the biggest clubs in Europe, one of the best leagues in Europe, I was nominated for youth player of the year, and I won so many personal awards for myself, which felt like a huge milestone for me. I’ve got through a lot in life-threatening injuries, but I came back and smashed it.
“Every day I wake up and say thank you God for everything. I am at 100, they are at zero because I won in life. I am so grateful to God, but I don’t think he’s done with me yet.â€
Osimhen also assured there is no need for people to judge him on his social media profile and enjoyment of memes.
“I need to be me. I love to laugh, but I can be so serious at times. I respect everyone, I fear no one. On the pitch it’s strictly business, on the training ground it’s strictly business, but outside of that, I just want to live life, enjoy and be happy. Life is too short.
“With the time I have now, I want to keep on laughing, making money and keep the ones that I love so close to my heart.â€
