Osimhen Chronic Disease Claims: Galatasaray Files Record €75M Lawsuit Against Turkish Pundit

Istanbul giants Galatasaray has announced its intention to pursue legal action against football commentator Ahmet Çakar in response to his recent comments regarding the health of Nigerian star striker Victor Osimhen, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The club is reportedly seeking a significant €75 million (approximately £64 million) in damages, aiming to address the impact of these statements on both the player's reputation and the club's brand.

According to journalist Ali Naci Küçük, this potential lawsuit could set a historical precedent, becoming the highest compensation case in Turkish history.

The controversy began with Çakar's posts on social media, where he suggested he had received information regarding a serious illness affecting Osimhen, whom Galatasaray acquired for a substantial transfer fee of €75 million.

In his initial post, Çakar stated, “I received information from the Ministry of Health about Osimhen’s disease. As a sports professional and father, I don’t want to delve into specifics. When I spoke to Galatasaray Club Doctor Yener İnce, he indicated that while several players in the Super League had similar disorders, Osimhen tested negative.”

He later expressed his concern, writing, “It’s a very sad day for me. Unfortunately, I received information that there is a serious health problem with Osimhen. I hope it’s not true.”

Club management has expressed their serious concern regarding these comments, emphasizing their commitment to protecting the integrity of their players, especially given the significant investment made in Osimhen.

The proposed compensation amount aligns with the player's initial transfer value, underlining the potential implications of such claims on his market worth and the club's financial interests.
