Osimhen Could Make Fenerbahce Derby After Successful Surgery

Victor Osimhen has been discharged from hospital following successful surgery on a fractured arm, his club Galatasaray confirmed, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigeria international underwent a three-hour operation at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital after arriving in Istanbul earlier this week. The procedure was carried out by the club’s medical director, Yener İnce, alongside his team.

Osimhen had initially received treatment in England, where his arm was placed in a cast, before spending a short leave in Nigeria. He then traveled to Turkey for further medical attention and surgery.

Turkish football analyst Burhan Can Terzi reported that the operation was successful and that the striker was expected to be discharged shortly after.

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek visited the forward during his recovery and expressed optimism about his condition.

“He’s doing very well, he had a successful operation. Hopefully, he’ll return to the pitch as soon as possible,” Özbek said. When asked about Osimhen’s availability for the upcoming derby against Fenerbahçe, he added: “He will try to return as soon as possible.”

The 26-year-old is expected to be sidelined for at least a month, ruling him out of several domestic fixtures, including league matches against Trabzonspor, Göztepe, Kocaelispor, and Gençlerbirliği, as well as a Turkish Cup clash against Gençlerbirliği.

Osimhen could, however, make a return in time for the high-profile derby against Fenerbahçe in the week of April 26, depending on his recovery progress.

Before the injury, Osimhen had been in impressive form, registering 19 goals and seven assists in 26 appearances for Galatasaray this season.
