Osimhen Opens Up On Why Move To Juventus Failed

Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has revealed why his proposed transfer to Italian giants Juventus failed to materialise, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian international was heavily linked with a move to the former European champions during the summer window when he was keen on leaving Napoli.

Juventus, fondly called the Old Lady, were among the clubs that signified strong interest in securing the services of the prolific forward.

However, the deal ultimately collapsed before reaching completion. Speaking on the failed transfer, Osimhen disclosed that Juventus’ Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli had made efforts to push the move through, but Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis blocked the transfer.

“Juventus wanted to sign me and Giuntoli submitted a bid to try to close the deal, but President De Laurentiis didn’t sell me to Juve,” Osimhen said.

The striker, who enjoyed a productive spell under coach Luciano Spalletti at Napoli, also dismissed speculation of any rift with the Italian tactician.

“Juve are a top club. I never had a fight with Spalletti. When Juventus call you, you have to listen to them,” he added.

Osimhen’s comments put to rest rumours surrounding his relationship with his former manager and shed light on the circumstances that prevented what could have been one of the biggest transfers involving a Nigerian player in recent years.
