Galatasaray have confirmed that Victor Osimhen has undergone successful surgery on a fractured right forearm sustained during their 4–0 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In an official statement released on March 23, the Turkish club said the procedure was carried out at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by club doctor Yener İnce, following initial medical assessments and X-rays.

The statement read: “Our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue the game in the away match against Liverpool, underwent a successful operation today. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he returns to the field as soon as possible.”

The injury occurred during the first half at Anfield, when Osimhen collided mid-air with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, who landed on the striker’s arm. Despite clear discomfort, Osimhen continued playing until half-time with his forearm heavily strapped before being withdrawn.

While recovering in Nigeria ahead of the procedure, Osimhen addressed the incident during a livestream with influencer Carter Efe, downplaying the severity of the injury and describing it as less serious than previous setbacks in his career.

He also revealed that Konaté contacted him after the match to check on his condition and clarify the incident.

The 27-year-old expressed optimism about his recovery, estimating a four-week healing period followed by an additional two weeks to regain match fitness.

Prior to the injury, Osimhen had been in outstanding form, recording 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions. His contributions included seven goals and three assists in 10 UEFA Champions League matches, underlining his importance to Galatasaray’s campaign.
