Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was unable to find the back of the net on Saturday as Napoli picked up a slim 1-0 away victory over Torino, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Osimhen was looking to build on his goal and assist against Sassuolo last weekend to score in consecutive Serie A matches for the first time since mid-March.
Napoli showed class from the start, applying a lot of pressure on the Bulls. The Partenopeans recorded four accurate shots in the first period, two of which were from Osimhen’s boots. Unfortunately, Torino goalkeeper Etrit Berisha was up to the task, maintaining a wall between the sticks.
The second half saw both teams go at each other, with half chances falling to both teams. Captain Lorenzo Insigne fluffed his lines in the 61st minute as he missed a spot-kick.
Fabian Ruiz saved the blushes of Napoli captain Lorenzo and the entire Napoli team with his 73rd-minute goal after Insigne had missed from the penalty spot earlier in the second half.
Luciano Spalleti’s lads kept a strong defense; even Osimhen dropped back to help his backline.
Napoli held out for the remainder of the game to see out the 1-0 victory.
Napoli have now garnered 73 points from 36 league games, five points behind league leaders Inter Milan from the same number of games.
