Victor Osimhen endured a disappointing outing as Galatasaray were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League following a comprehensive 4–0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The result secured a 4–1 aggregate victory for Liverpool, ending Galatasaray’s European campaign despite a competitive showing in the first leg.

Osimhen, who started the match, struggled to make an impact and was substituted at half-time after appearing to aggravate a knock sustained earlier in the game. The Nigerian forward was largely contained by Liverpool’s defence, registering a single off-target header, limited touches, and minimal involvement in attacking play.

Liverpool’s dominance was evident throughout, with Dominik Szoboszlai opening the scoring before the hosts added further goals after the interval. Mohamed Salah also found the net, marking his 50th goal in the competition and becoming the first African player to reach that milestone.

Despite the team’s early exit, Osimhen delivered an impressive individual campaign, scoring seven goals in nine appearances while consistently featuring in the starting lineup.

In contrast, Ademola Lookman progressed to the quarter-finals with Atlético Madrid, who advanced 7–5 on aggregate despite a 3–2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in London.

Lookman played a key role during his 63-minute appearance, contributing an assist and remaining influential in Atlético’s attacking transitions. The Nigerian winger had an early goal ruled out for offside but continued to trouble the opposition, creating opportunities for teammates including Antoine Griezmann and Julián Alvarez.

Atlético’s progress was ultimately secured by their first-leg advantage, with Tottenham’s victory on the night proving insufficient to overturn the aggregate deficit.

The contrasting outcomes highlight a mixed night for Nigerian players in Europe’s elite competition, as Lookman’s campaign continues while Osimhen’s journey ends despite a strong personal performance.
