Osimhen’s Stunning Overhead Kick Named Süper Lig Goal of the Season

Victor Osimhen’s spectacular overhead kick in Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Antalyaspor has been voted the 2024/25 Turkish Süper Lig Goal of the Season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian striker’s acrobatic finish — scored in the closing minutes of the October 19, 2024, fixture — garnered 65.8% of the fan votes in an online poll conducted by the Turkish Süper Lig via its official X (formerly Twitter) account. Osimhen edged out teammate Kaan Ayhan, whose curling free-kick collected 34.2% of the votes in the final round of voting. 

 “The most beautiful goal of the 2024–2025 Season in the Trendyol Super League was determined by your votes. Victor Osimhen!” the league announced on Tuesday.

Osimhen’s award-winning goal came just 13 minutes after he was introduced as a late substitute, replacing Yunus Akgün in the 78th minute. It was his third goal of the season following a late loan switch from Napoli, after being sidelined by the Italian club.

Despite arriving midway through the campaign, the 26-year-old forward produced an outstanding season, finishing with 37 goals across all competitions, including 26 in the Süper Lig.

Osimhen’s dazzling form in Turkey has reignited transfer speculation, with the striker reportedly rejecting a high-profile move to Saudi giants Al Hilal, despite a significantly improved follow-up offer. He is believed to be prioritizing a move to the English Premier League, with Manchester United among the top clubs monitoring his situation.

With his loan at Galatasaray concluded, parent club Napoli are expected to accelerate negotiations over his permanent transfer as the summer window intensifies.
