Osun Face Remo Stars ln Ogunjobi Memorial Cup Final

NPFL/Laliga U-15 Champions, Remo Stars will square up with Omoluabi Boys, ‘Team Osun’ on Sunday 21st August 2022, in the final of the maiden edition of the Ogunjobi Memorial Cup.

'Soname Boys' had in the first semifinal of the competition dumped aside stubborn Team Oyo from the penalties following a 1-1 scoreline regulation time.

The Ogun state based team edged Team Oyo 6-5 on penalties.

In the second semi-final, the encounter between Lagos and Osun produced no goal in the first half, however the second half was full of furious displays from both sides in an attempt to bulge the net.

Breakthrough later came for the host state following a rash challenge from Lagos defender inside his own yard, Isiaq Idowu made no mistake as he converted the spot kick. It was a controversial penalty that decided the finalists as Osun picked the final ticket with 1-0 win over Lagos.

The final match on Sunday will be the second time that Remo Stars will be meeting Team Osun in the tournament. The last time they met, it ended one all and both teams qualified from Group B.

Sunday's final will be witnessed by football bigwigs across the nation. The championship is packaged by Western Nigeria Football Forum to immortalise the name of immediate past chairman of Osun State Football Association Late Chief Taiwo Joseph Ogunjobi.

Remo Stars will play Team Osun at the Ataoja School of Science Osogbo at 2:00 pm.
