Osun Intercollegiate Games Gets Date

  In a remarkable turn of event, the much-touted maiden edition of Osun Intercollegiate Games has gotten the kickoff date of 20th November, 2024 and to run till 4th December, 2024. This is a significant manifestation of all the pieces sliding into place pertaining to the actualization of the games. 

  The Osun Intercollegiate Games is a novel initiative and intervention in the tertiary institutions sports landscape in Osun State and it is being organized and midwifed by Ace Sports, inter alia aimed at flipping the script on a prevailing docile tertiary institutions sports milieu in Osun State.

   The games will span participation of tertiary institution students in Osun State across the spectrum of Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Monotechnics, and sports in which student-athletes are to compete for honours are football, badminton, table-tennis,* chess, scrabble, athletics, and Tug-of-War, in both male and female categories across four(4) selected host venues. 

  An aggregate of about twenty two(22) tertiary institutions in Osun State have been activated to participate in the games with at least one thousand five hundred(1,500) student-athletes representing their respective schools in jostling for honours. 

  Ace Sports, in collaboration with Osun Tertiary Institution Games Association(OSTIGA), has been putting its shoulder to the wheel in enthroning assiduous efforts at bringing about a resounding success of the maiden edition of the Osun Intercollegiate Games. 

   The Team Lead of Ace Sports, Olayiwola Olafiranye remarks, "it is to our delight that we are contriving to hold the maiden edition of the Osun Intercollegiate Games this year. This is Ace Sports Group's little intervention in discovering and honing the enormous sporting talents and potentials deposited in our tertiary institutions in Osun State. This games will subsequently be an annual event and by God's grace, the aims of the competition shall be achieved in multiple ramifications.

   Olafiranye also assures that adequate security measures will be put in place for the games as relevant security agencies will be deployed accordingly, while offering gratitude to Osun State Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sports, The Sports Council and other associations of the prospective featuring sports for their approvals and other shades of support that would prove ultimately invaluable.

  Also lending his opinion, the Chairman of Osun Tertiary Institution Games Association(OSTIGA), Mr Agboola Akinbode, expresses delight at the level of preparation in place towards ensuring a hitch-free competition where athletes will be able to adequately strut and express their sporting talents, while noting that various necessary committees have been set up for the purpose of steering the games to success. 

  He also offers words of gratitude to Ace Sports for this remarkable initiative and affirms that, this would help in breathing life into sporting activities among tertiary institutions in Osun State while promoting healthy sporting relationships and socialization, and also reiterating the avowed readiness and commitment of OSTIGA to foster collaboration with Ace Sports and other relevant agencies/bodies going forward. 

 It is to be noted that, every stakeholder is being onboarded and the highest sporting standards shall be deployed and upheld during the course of the games.
