Following their ouster in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Nigeria's Super Eagles and Watford FC of England defender William Troost Ekong has said their target now is the 2023 African Cup of Nations, BSNsports.com.ng gathered

Despite their promising display at the group stage, the Super Eagles of Nigeria crashed out in the playoff round to their rival Black Stars of Ghana.

Ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifier, Nigeria Football Federation has lined up quality friendly games that will reposition the team.

While speaking to BBC Africa, a former Bursaspor of Turkey defender believed that the matches will serve as a revival for the team.

 “It’s good to have these two fantastic friendlies. We are still recovering from missing out on the World Cup.

 “It’s good to play against two top football countries because they are the kind of oppositions we would’ve liked to play in preparation for Qatar.

Anyway, we still have a chance to gain that experience. We are looking forward to it and we are happy to play these quality friendly games and looking forward to starting a new campaign to truly put the World Cup behind us as the Nations Cup is our only focus for now," he told BBC
