Over 500 Skaters Feature At BHS Club Training Workshop

The Big Heart Skating (BHS) club Training Workshop featured over 500 Roller Skaters at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The workshop was conducted by two experts from Canada, Mr. Alexandre Hamel and Pascale Jodoin, who came to Nigeria on self-sponsorship with their daughter. During a chat with journalists, Mr Alexandre Hamel praised Nigerian skaters for their speed, energy, and liveliness, contrasting them with Canadian skaters, whom he described as practising the art like they are dancing Jaolyn. He emphasized the need for Nigerian skaters to have adequate space to practice and exhibit their talents, suggesting venues such as the National Art Theatre. Expressing his joy over the successful workshop, Kingsley Kedron Nkisa, the CEO of the BHS club and Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Roller Skate Federation, thanked the Canadian experts and Comrade Joseph Eva for their support. He highlighted the positive impact of the workshop, which expanded the scope of skating skills in Nigeria beyond aggressive skating, street skeeting, and Shalome to include Artistic Figure Skeeting, Synchronized Skeeting, and Choreography Skeeting. Kedron expressed confidence in the Canadian experts and envisioned a long-term partnership with them. He also appealed to corporate Nigerians and well-meaning individuals to support roller skating in Nigeria through sponsorship. Furthermore, Mr. Hamel expressed interest in African skating football, introduced by Mr. Kedron in 2011, and promised to establish a skating football team in Canada. This exchange of knowledge and skills between the Nigerian and Canadian skaters was seen as mutually beneficial. Philip Oyede, the Secretary General of the Nigeria Roller Skate Federation, also pledged continued collaboration with anyone interested in developing skating in the country.
