Paris 2024: D'Tigress Secure Olympic Ticket Despite Heavy Defeat

By Sampson Adedeji

Nigeria's senior women's basketball team have clinched qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics and secured back-to-back appearances at the showpiece event, having also featured last time at Tokyo 2020, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite losing to a formidable opponent in the USA earlier on Friday, a subsequent victory by Belgium over Senegal was enough to wrap up a ticket to Paris with a game to spare in Antwerp.

The victory recorded against their rival in Africa, Senegal gave them a much-needed edge to pick the ticket despite the defeat to the World Champions.

D'Tigress made their debut in 2004 in Athens and finished in the 11th position despite showing a spirited performance.

Their return to the big show in 2024 might see them able to improve on two 11th-placed finishes. D'Tigress have not won a game at the Olympics.
