Paris Olympics: Favour Ofilli Blasts, Ask Why No Sanctions Yet On NOC, AFN Staff

Team Nigeria athlete Favour Ofili has further expresses her disappointment at not being part of the Women’s 100m heats and asked why no staff of the Nigeria Olympics Committee or Athletics Federation of Nigeria has faced sanctions, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Ofilli qualified for event but misses out due to an apparent clerical error, having missed Tokyo due to a separate bureaucratic issue. 

The Women's 100m event at the Olympics began on Friday, and sadly, Ofili did not make the heats despite Nigeria's appeals for her to be registered.

Despite the Sports Minister's declaration of thorough investigation and disciplinary action to the responsible personnel, nothing has been done after two days.

Only two Nigerian athletes competed in the heats: Rosemary Chukwuma (heat 5) and Tima Godbless (heat 7).

The LSU Track & Field star took to her official X account (formerly Twitter) to voice her concerns with a post. 

"Sadly, nothing has been done. I'm yet to see or hear anyone is being punished for what the NOC and AFN did to me. Athletes shouldn't be getting punished for things out of their control.

"Who assigned Federations and/or Olympic Committees to enter athletes into Olympic Games? Is it World Athletics? If so, should they not hold them accountable when they fail to do their job by not entering athletes in events they qualify and want to compete?"
