Patrick Vieira Emerges As Frontrunner For Senegal Coaching Job

Former France international Patrick Vieira has emerged as the leading candidate to become the next head coach of Senegal following the dismissal of Pape Thiaw, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to reports, Vieira's name has gained significant support within the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), with discussions over the vacant position intensifying in recent days.
The former Arsenal captain is now considered the frontrunner to succeed Thiaw after Senegal's disappointing 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Thiaw was relieved of his duties after the Lions of Teranga's early exit from the World Cup, prompting the federation to begin the search for a new manager to lead the team into the next phase of international competition.
Vieira, who was born in Dakar before representing France as a player, has previously managed clubs including Crystal Palace, Strasbourg, Nice and Genoa.
His experience at both club and international levels is believed to have strengthened his candidacy for the Senegal job.
While the FSF has yet to make an official announcement, reports indicate that Vieira currently leads the race to take charge of the Lions of Teranga ahead of other potential candidates.
