Plateau United CAF Champions league Preliminary round opponents, Stade mandji of Gabon have threatened to withdraw from this year CAF Champions League due to paucity of funds.

The champions of Gabon have decided not to honour their matches in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League due to unavailablity of funds required to finance their participation in the CAF Club tournament.

The team accused the league organisers of their inability to pay them 80,000,000 CFA prize money for the title they won last season as they were only given the trophy without cash back-up.

This is despite numerous reminders from the Stade Mandji management committee to the league management.

Stade Mandji said it has been financing certain trips itself during the national championship

The game against Plateau United comes up 10th September and the team has to move from Port-Gentil to Franceville and the team has to not only finance the trip, but also bear the cost of logistics for the Nigeria team.
