Bayana Bayana of South Africa attacker Thembi Kgatlana has revealed the reason she feels Nigeria's Super Falcons have an edge over them, BSNsports.com.ng has gathered.

Super Falcons has remained a strong force in the African Women Cup of Nations, having won it for a record 9 times while the title remained elusive to Bayana Bayana.

The Atletico Madrid striker opened up the reason while speaking to CAF media ahead the 2022 AWCON slated for Morocco.

In her statements, she said exporting players abroad is one of the key advantages the Super Falcons are enjoying.

But she further said the story is changing now and they are ready to compete following the increasing number of Bayana Bayana players playing abroad.

“I think for a number of years, Banyana hadn’t exported a lot of players overseas and that has given Nigeria and other teams the upper hand because they were able to export players.

"But then things are starting to look good and exciting for Banyana because we have several overseas-based players, that means they are training every day, physically and mentally, at a high level.

And we have the Hollywoodbets (Super League) that is on season, that means the coaches will not have a problem getting the players to be fit than playing a tournament and some players are off-season.

"I think for a number of years Banyana have struggled because they were not able to export players but things are looking positive now,” she explains.

The Spanish-based striker is expected to be in action when they face Nigeria in the opening Group C game.
