Gabonese captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has issued a stern warning to Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff clash, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Aubameyang, who played a key role in helping the Panthers secure a playoff spot, expressed his team’s strong determination to qualify for the global showpiece.
Both teams are set to face off in the first leg of the CAF playoffs scheduled to take place in Morocco.
Speaking to The Standard, the former Arsenal and Barcelona striker emphasized his hunger and motivation to make it to the World Cup a feat Gabon has never achieved.
“We want to go to the World Cup, and to get there, we have to win games,” Aubameyang said.
“I’m very motivated, and when you have the chance to go to the World Cup, you have to be even more motivated.”
The 36-year-old veteran forward will be looking to inspire his teammates to make history, but they will face a formidable challenge in the Super Eagles, who are seeking to return to the world stage after missing the 2022 edition in Qatar.
