Political Event Disrupts NPFL Schedule As PDP Takes Over 3SC Home Ground

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has postponed the Matchday 10 fixture between Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and Remo Stars FC, originally scheduled for Sunday, following the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Elective Convention taking place this weekend at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The stadium, which serves as 3SC’s home ground, will host the PDP’s two-day convention on Saturday and Sunday, November 15–16, 2025, prompting league organizers to shift the league encounter to a later date.

In a statement, the NPFL management confirmed that a new date will be communicated to both clubs in due course.

The PDP National Convention approved by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in July will elect new national officers and marks a key moment in the party’s political calendar ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Shooting Stars are second on the log with 15 point from 9 games just four points behind the leaders, Nasarawa United.

Meanwhile, the defending champions Remo Stars FC, that represented Nigeria in the ongoing 2025/26 CAF Champions League, currently sit 17th in the standings. The Ogun-based side has managed just three wins, one draw, and five losses, scoring nine goals and conceding 14, for a goal difference of –5 and a total of 10 points from nine games.

Background on the PDP Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Elective Convention is set for November 15–16, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.

Party leaders and delegates from across the country will gather to elect a new set of national executives, in what is seen as a strategic step towards repositioning the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
