Post-NSF: Over 70% Athletes From Ebonyi Competed For Other States - Officials

Coaches from Team Ebonyi State have decried that over 70% athletes from the state competed for other states in the just concluded 2025 National Sports Festival, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The coaches sought an end to poaching of the state's athletes during a meeting with the State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Richard Idike. 

According to them, the state government should domesticate the hiring of coaches under the Ebonyi State employment scheme. 

On his part, the team's football coach, Martin Mkpuma blamed the team's woeful performance at the festival due to fixtures congestion. 

Also, the Basketball coach, Kingsley Achu blamed the inadequate logistics arrangements as the bane for the team's poor performance.
