The newly promoted side Nottingham Forest boost their hope of survival in the premier league as they secured a 1-0 win over fellow struggler Southampton, BSNSports.com.ng report.

Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, posted another impressive display at the St. Mary Stadium as he scored the only goal of the game.

The former Union Berlin attacker was awarded man of the match in the last game against Chelsea after his amazing performance at the City Ground.

The game was played on Wednesday evening with both teams trying to control the game but it was the away side that finally stamped their authority on the game.

After 20 minutes of the keenly contested encounter, Nigeria International Awoniyi scored the only goal in the 27th minute.

Unfortunately, Awoniyi has to be substituted in the 70th minute after he sustained an injury.

Despite his substitution, his teammates did enough to secure maximum points in the game.
