Premier League: Awoniyi Returns In Nottingham Forest Defeat To Liverpool

Sampson Adedeji

The poor form of Nottingham Forest continued on Sunday as they suffered a massive 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Diego Jota and Darwin Nunez gave the Reds a first-half lead and ensured a comfortable one going into the locker room.

The highest point of Nottingham Forest in the game was the return of Nigeria's Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi.

The lanky attacker had been out of action in the last 4 weeks due to the injury he sustained in the Premier League game against Brentford.

The injury also denied him the opportunity to represent Nigeria in the doubleheader international friendly match against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

Egyptian International Mohammed Salah sealed the game with the 3rd goal in the 77th minute of the game.

The return of Awoniyi to action will gladden the heart of the Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro as he continues to work on his list for the 2026 World Cup qualifier slated for November.
