Premier League: Bassey Will Regain His Form With Fulham - Former Rangers Boss

Former Rangers of Scotland boss Giovani Van Bronkhorst has said that Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey will regain his form with Fulham FC, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The left-footed defender joined Fulham this summer from Ajax Amsterdam after he struggled to tie down a regular playing time with the Eredivisie giant.

The former Dutch defender attributed Bassey's poor form to the bad performance of Ajax last season.

“When I came to Rangers, he was not a starter.  

“I gave him the chance and he became a force. He is a strong boy; fast and eager to learn. He went through a stormy development and there was a lot of interest, but he chose Ajax.” 

Expectations were high, but it was a difficult year for Ajax, the departures of Erik ten Hag and Marc Overmars preceding the ascent of Feyenoord.

“That also made it harder for Calvin. He didn’t show enough of his strengths and also had to improve other things, such as (his quality in) the build-up. 

It That was already aint (he had to improve) when he played under me.

“At Fulham, he can now play more in his strength", he said.
