Premier League: Onuachu’s Fitness To Be Evaluated Ahead Of Villa Clash

Southampton’s interim manager, Simon Rusk, has confirmed that Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu will undergo a fitness assessment ahead of this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Aston Villa, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite Southampton’s relegation this season, Onuachu has remained an influential presence in the squad.

During his first press conference since assuming the managerial role for the remainder of the season, Rusk stated that the squad is largely injury-free.

Onuachu, who was nursing an ankle issue, started on the bench in last weekend’s match against Tottenham but came on during the final stages of the game in London.

“Paul has trained and is in and around the squad. There are still one or two players we’re monitoring, and Paul is one of them. But we’re optimistic — the signs are positive,” Rusk said.
