President Buhari Orders More Representative In NFF Congress

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to expand its Congress for it to contain more representative of the various Stakeholders as well as to conduct elections into the Executive Committee in September, when the tenure of the Amaju Pinnick-led administration runs out.

These directives were conveyed in a letter dated June 17, 2022, and signed by Spots Minister Sunday Dare.

The letter was addressed to NFF President Amaju Pinnick.

President Buhari urged the NFF leadership to amend the NFF Statutes 2010 to reflect the national yearnings and aspirations and peculiarities of Nigeria as a sovereign nation while aligning with the principles and objectives of football as set by world football ruling body FIFA.

Various Stakeholders have headed to court demanding for a more inclusive NFF Congress after arguing that it is skewed in favour of the State FA Chairmen, who have 37 of the 44 members of the country’s football highest decision-making body.

The FA Chairmen have as a result dominated the NFF Executive Committee.
