President Federation Cup: Approach Kwara United Clash As Cup Final - Boboye
Precious Oham
Kennedy Boboye has charged Akwa United players to approach the President Federation Cup quarter-final match with Kwara United as the cup final, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Akwa United will continue their push for a third Football Association (FA) Cup title in ten years when they engage fellow Nigeria Premier Football League side Kwara United in a quarter-final fixture scheduled to take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Saturday.
The Promise Keepers, champions in 2015 & 2017 have successfully navigated their way past Kebbi United in the round of 64, Mighty Jets Feeders in the round of 32 and Inter Lagos in the round of 16 to book their place in the last eight in this year's competition, while Kwara United made their way to the quarter-finals following wins over Gombe United and Solutions FC.
He said: "We all know that the Federation Cup is a knockout competition and as such, we must not leave any stone unturned. We have to approach the match with an amount of commitment, focus and seriousness with the ultimate aim of securing one of the four semi-final tickets.
"We will be facing a fellow Premier League team for the first time in this competition, and we should be ready to go all out and give our best. We shouldn't expect to have an easy game but a tough one. It may be a game of few chances so we have to make the best use of the opportunities that will come our way to ensure we achieve our aim of advancing to the next round."
Boboye has named a strong squad for the crucial match including Osoba Kabir and Orji Chisom - the two players have scored four goals between themselves (two goals each) in three FA Cup matches.
Also selected alongside the regulars are youngsters Nsikak Raphael, Emmanuel Ini, Ibrahim Akande, Tochukwu Samuel and goalkeeper Hakeem Otuyiga.
