In a dramatic round of 16 clash in the 2025 President Federation's Cup, Nasarawa United avenged their 2021 FA Cup final loss to Bayelsa United by defeating them 5-3 in a penalty shootout after regulation time ended 1-1 apiece, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The match, played at the Late Prince Abubakar Audu University Stadium, Anyigba, Kogi State, on Wednesday morning, was evenly contested, with both sides creating scoring opportunities.

The Solid Miners and Bayelsa United traded goals, resulting in a 1-1 deadlock after 90 minutes, with Anas Yusuf scoring from the spot for United in the 49th minute after Shina Kumater was hacked down inside the box, while Yahaya Ibrahim levelled matters for the 2021 champions in the 61st minute.

Nasarawa United showed excellent composure and skill in the penalty shootout session, converting five out of five spot kicks to emerge victorious.

Kabir Balogun, Utake Emmanuel, Salomon Chigoziem, Jack Benjamin and Manga Mohammed all converted their spot kicks, while Detan Ogundare saved Bayelsa United's Isa Owoyemi's kick.

The hard-fought win sees the Solid Miners advancing to the last eight of the single knockout longest inter-club football competition in Nigeria, where they hope to continue with their determination and enthusiasm to get to a third final appearance within the space of ten years.
