President Federation Cup: Quarter-Finalists Emerge After Thrilling Women’s Round of 16 Encounters

The race for this year’s President Federation Cup title intensified on Wednesday as the Women’s Round of 16 produced a mix of dominant performances, high-scoring contests and dramatic penalty shootouts.
Rivers Angels secured their place in the quarter-finals with a convincing 3-1 victory over Abia Angels, while FC Robo Queens edged Remo Stars Ladies 5-3 in one of the most entertaining matches of the round.
Heartland Queens delivered a commanding display, defeating Ahudiyannem Queens 4-0 to advance comfortably. Sunshine Queens also progressed after recording a 2-0 win over Plateau United Queens.
Confluence Queens produced the standout result of the day, overwhelming Esthington FC 8-0 in a one-sided encounter to book their quarter-final berth in emphatic fashion. Edo Queens were equally impressive, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Delta Queens.
Two fixtures required penalty shootouts to determine the winners. After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Ibom Angels defeated Bayelsa Queens 5-4 on penalties to secure passage to the last eight.
Nasarawa Amazons also needed spot-kicks to progress after being held to a 1-1 draw by Naija Ratels. The Amazons held their nerve in the shootout, emerging 4-3 winners to complete the quarter-final line-up.
The results set the stage for what promises to be an exciting quarter-final phase of Nigeria’s premier women’s cup competition.Round of 16 Results
