President Tinubu Congratulates Super Eagles, Urges Team to Sustain World Cup Qualification Hopes

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Eagles on their commanding 4-0 victory over Benin Republic’s Cheetahs, commending the team for keeping the nation’s dream of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup alive.

In a statement released on October 14, 2025, the President lauded the players’ hunger, passion, and determination demonstrated during the match in Uyo, highlighting how their outstanding performance has rekindled pride in Nigerian football.

“While the job is not yet complete, I join millions of Nigerians in wishing our team every success as they prepare for the playoffs,” President Tinubu said.

He noted the widespread optimism across the country, reflecting a collective belief that Nigeria rightfully deserves a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

“As your President, I assure the team and coaching staff of the Federal Government’s unwavering support in your efforts to secure qualification,” he added. “Nigerians everywhere believe in you, and I do too. We look forward to seeing you proudly fly our flag on the global stage.”
