Promotion Race Heads To Aba As NLO Confirms Playoff Venue

The Enyimba International Stadium in Aba has been selected as the host venue for the 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) South-South and South-East Promotion Playoffs, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The five-day playoff tournament, scheduled to run from July 29 to August 2, will determine the promotion slots from the two zones, with all matches taking place at the Aba venue.

In a letter signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the NLO, Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo, and addressed to the Abia State Football Association, the league confirmed the venue and urged the state FA to ensure the successful organisation of the competition.

According to the communication, all qualified clubs are expected to arrive at the designated venue on or before July 28 for the mandatory pre-tournament technical meeting.

The NLO also directed each participating club to pay a registration fee of ₦200,000 into the league's designated bank account before the commencement of the playoffs.

State Football Associations have been tasked with ensuring that their qualified teams complete all documentation and registration requirements and are fully informed of the competition guidelines and venue arrangements.

The league stated that detailed fixtures, venue information and operational guidelines have already been forwarded to the participating clubs through their respective State Football Associations.

The NLO further reiterated its commitment to maintaining high organisational standards, warning that a zero-tolerance policy will be enforced against indiscipline, late arrival of teams and failure to produce valid player licences.

The league also urged State FAs to impress on their clubs the importance of fair play and strict adherence to competition rules throughout the promotion playoffs.
