By Oluwayemi Omolagba

Born in Cameroon to former Arsenal and Barcelona player Alex Song, Nolan Song says he will turn down an approach by the Cameroon Football Federation to play for the Indomitable Lions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Cameroon Football Federation has started initial steps to convince every talented Cameroonian-born in the diaspora to play for the Indomitable Lions but the son of ex-Arsenal midfielder Alexandre Song says he will rather play for the French national team.

“Cameroon is not my country, it’s my father’s country,” he said during a Q and A session on Instagram.

"I was born in France, raised in England, I feel no connection with ‘my country’.

"Just because my dad played for the country doesn’t mean I have to do it.

"I don’t feel Cameroonian, the only connection I have with the country is my family. This is why you’ll never see me in Cameroonian gear.

"Probably gonna play for France," he concluded.
