Qatar 2022: Asamoah Gyan Could Be On His Way To Qatar With Black Stars

The World Cup they say is the dream of every footballer and at all costs they want to be part of it and that is no exception to Ghanaian legend Asamoah Gyan who has now shown interest in represent his country in Qatar, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Although he admitted he's not physically fit to play for the Black Stars at the moment but the legendary striker won't rule participating in the World Cup in Qatar.

Has not featured for Ghana since 2019, not actively playing for more than a year, the Black Stars all-time leading scorer while speaking to Peace FM in Accra said he has to justify his inclusion in the team if he has to play at the World Cup in Qatar.

"As far as I am not retired, I have to earn the call up. I have to train and get a team and also be performing to get a call. I have to get the call up based on merit," he said. 

"I've heard of the Roger Milla story, but the most important thing is I have to be fit physically. I am naturally gifted and can do anything on the pitch but physically I don't think I am ready," he added.

Asamoah Gyan holds the record as the African with the most goals at the FIFA World Cup. 

He was part of the team that first qualified for the World Cup in 2006 and played a role as Ghana reached the quarter finals four years later in South Africa. 

Gyan also captained the team at the World Cup in Brazil 2014.
