Former Nigeria's Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has advised Nigerians to move on from his era as a goaltender of the national team, BSNsports.com.ng report
Following his amazing performance in the colour of the national team former LOSC Lille goalkeeper was rated arguably the best in Nigeria football history.
While speaking on Channels TV, Enyeama advised that there is only one Enyeama and he further said instead of comparing present day goal with him, they should support whoever is in goal for the team.
" Luckily for me, I didn't have anyone to be compared with, I stood out among my peers and I was the hero for the country most times for the country, thanks to God, thanks to His grace.
Let's just supports these goalkeepers, imagine Akpeyi walked up to the goal post and he's expected to keep a clean sheet just because Enyeama did something like that against Argentina.
When Uzoho, Akpeyi or Okoye walked into the goal post they should know they will see them not Vincent Enyeama between the sticks.
The expectations have posed a big problem for Nigerian goalies, everybody is comparing them to Enyeama, I can understand.
Nigeria want the best unfortunately no more Vincent Enyeama in the team so we should support whoever is in goal.
Let's encourage these guys because this kind of comparison gives me a headache," he said.
Enyeama spent 13 years with the Super Eagles making 101 appearances and appearing in 9 major tournaments.
