Despite his resumption to training, CD Leganes defender, Kenneth Omeruo, might not be fit enough to take part in the 2022 World Cup playoffs against Black Stars of Ghana, BSNsports.com.ng gathered.

Omeruo has been instrumental in the Super Eagles securing the playoff ticket but has been in the treatment room for quite sometime.

The coach of Leganes few days ago confirmed that Omeruo has resumed training and has taken part in two training sessions but still lacked match fitness.

One of the defenders placed on standby Chidozie Awaziem is set to take Omeruo's position in the Super Eagles ahead of Ghana's game as his club Alanyaspor of Turkey on Sunday confirmed his invitation to the national team.

" Our football player, Chidozie Awaziem, has been invited to the squad for the World Cup Qualification matches, which Nigeria will play against Ghana on 25 and 29 March," the club said.

Awaziem was part of the team to the 2021 African Cup of Nations but was unable to take part due to an injury.
