Queens Cup to Kick Off in Ibadan with 10 Clubs Vying for Preseason Supremacy

The city of Ibadan will come alive next week as ten of Nigeria’s leading women’s football clubs converge for the maiden edition of the Queens Cup, a Southwest preseason tournament scheduled to run from Monday, November 3 to Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The elite preseason event, powered by Assamokee International, with support from the Oyo State Government and official endorsement from the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) is set to feature six Premiership sides and four Championship clubs, offering fans a preview of the 2025/26 NWFL season.

Among the participating teams are Pacesetter Queens, FC Robo Queens, Dannaz Ladies, Remo Stars Ladies, Osun Babes, Castmog Ladies, Unification Ladies, Wazbak Queens, Chosen Generation, and DreamStar Ladies.

Teams Ready for a Competitive Preseason Showdown

For many clubs, the Queens Cup will serve as a critical test of form, fitness, and tactical readiness ahead of the new season.

Pacesetter Queens, buoyed by several high-profile signings during the transfer window, will relish the opportunity to showcase their new-look squad in front of home fans.

FC Robo Queens and Remo Stars Ladies, renowned for their attacking flair, are expected to deliver exciting football, while Osun Babes and Dannaz Ladies aim to fine-tune their squads after intense off-season preparations.

Meanwhile, Championship sides Unification Ladies and Castmog Ladies see the tournament as a chance to measure themselves against top-flight competition and make a statement ahead of their respective campaigns.

A Platform for Preparation and Talent Discovery

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Dr. AbdulRahmon Abolore, founder of Assamokee International, described the Queens Cup as more than just a preseason competition.

 “The Queens Cup is not just a tournament it’s a launchpad,” Abolore said. “Every match will test the teams’ tactical discipline and conditioning. This kind of intensity helps coaches build match-ready squads before the NWFL season begins.”

Abolore added that the Queens Cup aims to serve as a platform for talent discovery, spotlighting emerging players and new signings who could become the next generation of Nigerian women’s football stars.

He also praised Ibadan as the perfect host city, emphasizing that staging the tournament at the Lekan Salami Stadium symbolizes the growing recognition of women’s football in Nigeria.

 “Ibadan is becoming the new heartbeat of women’s football,” Abolore said. “Hosting the Queens Cup here sends a message — the women’s game belongs on the biggest stages. With support from the Oyo State Government and NWFL endorsement, we are setting a new benchmark for the future.”

As excitement builds across the Southwest, all participating teams are intensifying final preparations for what promises to be a thrilling week of top-class football and a celebration of women’s sporting excellence.
