Run Club Abuja (RCA) has commissioned a fully equipped digital library for the students of Junior Secondary School (JSS), Gwagwa, Abuja, with data subscription for one year. This will provide the school with educational resources and online materials for students from JSS1 to JSS3.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the President of RCA, Buchi Onyebule, explained that the e-library is equipped with 12 computers and three library systems, including; Google Education Fundamentals, Snapplify Engage and U-Lesson—a local educational content platform for junior secondary students.

Mr Onyegbule explained that the facility is also furnished with quality chairs and tables to provide a conducive learning environment.

The Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee of the Run Club Abuja 2025 Charity Half Marathon, Mrs Peju Lawanson, acknowledged the collective effort and generosity of sponsors, participants and volunteers in making the execution and delivery of the project a reality.

She emphasised that the digital library would significantly enrich the students’ academic experience by granting them access to a wealth of knowledge and learning opportunities.

“We hope that this initiative will inspire a love for learning, foster creativity, and equip students with the skills needed to excel in an increasingly digital world,” she said.

The Principal of Junior Secondary School, Gwagwa, Mrs Nneka Okonkwo expressed her gratitude, noting that the school previously had no conventional library.

She described the establishment of a digital library as a major leap forward in improving academic standards and opportunities for the students.

Mrs Okonkwo added that the facility would enable the students to compete favourably with their peers in schools located in urban and highbrow areas of Abuja.

Some of the beneficiaries of the new facility, Emmanuel Obioma and Goodness Akishere, both JSS3 students, expressed excitement about the new library, saying it would greatly assist them in research and study.

The Group Managing Director of Norrenberger Group, a major partner for the project, Tony Edeh, represented by the Head of Brand, Marketing and Communications, Ibinabor Otonjo, said the digital library presented a unique opportunity for students to explore worlds beyond the classroom, learn at their own pace, and dream bigger.

The project was funded through proceeds from the ₦10 million raised from the Charity Half Marathon organised by Run Club Abuja in July 2025.
