RENISA Congratulates Retired Judoka, Acting IGP Tunji Disu

The Association of Retired Sports Men and Women of Nigeria (RENISA) has congratulated the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Rilwan Tunji Disu, over his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

RENISA President, Sunday Adeleye, in a message he personally signed on behalf of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC), described the new police boss's appointment as a round peg in a round hole saying it aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President. 

Adeleye, expressed the hope that as a member of RENISA, the IGP will not only redefine policing in Nigeria but will make the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) a force to reckon with globally. 

“I want to on behalf of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Association of Retired Sports Men and Women of Nigeria (RENISA) congratulate new Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Rilwan Tunji Disu, over his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I believe with this appointment, the new IGP will redefine policing in Nigeria and make the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) a force to reckon with globally. His appointment is a round peg in a round hole and it perfectly aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President”, Adeleye concluded. 

"It will interest Nigerians to know that IGP Tunji Disu was Judoka as an athlete meaning he is our member. He retired in the sport with decades of competitive experience. He won a silver medal at the U.S. Open Judo Championship in 2022, competing against more than 500 international athletes. He began practising judo in 1986 and has won multiple medals including two gold medals at the National Sports Festival (NSF) and also honours at the Nigerian Police and Armed Forces Games and in 2021, he also clinched gold at the Nigerian Police Veterans Championship."

"My prayer is that God Almighty, in His infinite mercy, will guide and guard him in this new journey and assignment. May I also plead that Nigerians cooperate and help him to succeed as the new Police chief," the RENISA President added.
