Race For Overall Title Intesifies At 20th Oil And Gas Industry Games

Several champions were crowned on Day 7 of the 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games, with decisive victories across volleyball, table tennis and tennis strengthening contenders’ bids for overall honours.

Volleyball

In the men’s volleyball final, NNPCL delivered a commanding performance to defeat NUPRC 3–0. The champions controlled the match from start to finish, winning 25–16, 25–18, 25–21 to clinch gold.

Table Tennis

NNPCL continued their dominance in the men’s doubles table tennis final, sweeping past NLNG 3–0. The team secured straight-set victories of 11–7, 11–7 and 11–4.

In the women’s doubles final, Renaissance edged NNLG 3–1 in a closely contested encounter. After dropping the opening two sets 10–12 and 8–11, Renaissance rallied to claim the next three 11–8, 11–6 and 12–10 to secure gold.

Renaissance also triumphed in the mixed doubles final, defeating NLNG 3–1. The match finished 10–12, 11–8, 11–5, 11–9, underlining Renaissance’s strong showing in the table tennis events.

Tennis

In the men’s doubles semifinals, Aduku/Bello of NNLG overcame Nelson/Bere of NNPCL in a three-set contest, winning 3–6, 4–2, 10–5. Their teammates, Esisi/Fola of NNLG, defeated Obimi/Pius of NUPRC 4–2, 4–3 to reach the final.

The women’s doubles final produced an all-NNLG clash, with Aduku/Bello defeating Esisi/Fola 4–3, 4–2 to take the title.

In the ladies’ singles semifinals, Princess A of PTI outclassed Zuwy A of NCDMB 6–1, 6–1, while Nene L of Aradel defeated Eje E of Total 6–2, 6–1.

Princess A maintained her impressive form in the final, beating Nene L 6–2, 6–3 to secure the gold medal.

The men’s veteran singles category also delivered decisive results. In the semifinals, Samuel S of NMDPRA defeated Ibiba W of NNPCL 4–1, 4–0, while Victor A of NUPRC overcame Charles of PTI 4–2, 4–0.

Victor A went on to claim the title, defeating Samuel S 4–0, 4–1 in the final.

With multiple finals concluded and medals awarded, the battle for overall supremacy at the 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games continues to intensify as teams push for dominance in the closing stages of the competition.
