The boss of the Scottish Premier League club Rangers, Philip Clement has backed the under fire Nigerian striker Cyril Dessers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian International has been under intense criticism despite being the club's top scorer last season.

The Gers held Dynamo Kyiv to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League qualifier, and it was Dessers who scored a late-minute equalizer.

" Cyril kept pushing on to get the goal because he had a few chances that he finished very well and the goalkeeper saved well.

" So he kept on believing and I'm happy for him that he scored the goal.

" If you compare him with seven months ago he does much more things good for the team.

" Maybe people have a perception about him, but I know there are no defenders anymore who like to play against him, and he's only growing, so that's what we want, the coach said.
