Rangers Will Return To Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium In November- Gov Mbah

Rangers International Football Club will return to its home ground, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in November, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The State Governor, Mr Peter Mbah gave the assurance on Wednesday during his 100 Days in office broadcast.

Mbah while enumerating his achievements in office within the past three months, said that he understands the concerns of Rangers lovers for the team to return to their traditional home, The Cathedral.

He noted that while complete payment has been made about the laying of the astroturf on the pitch, he asserted that the team will return to the stadium in two months

“In the area of sports management, it has continued to be a matter of concern to this administration that our leading football brand in the State, Rangers International FC, does not play at its traditional home ground at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

“To address this anomaly, we have taken immediate steps to complete the re-laying of the playing surface at the Stadium.

“All requisite payments have been made and we can assure the lovers of Rangers that our darling team will return to playing its home games in our stadium before the end of November,” he said.

Recall that the 2016 Nigeria Premier Football League champions have played their past two league seasons home matches at the Awka City Stadium in Anambra State.

The 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) which was expected to kick off this weekend, has now been postponed.
