Ravens, Warriors Academy Clash In Generation Next Basketball Final Today

Ravens Basketball Academy will trade tackles with Warriors Academy as curtain falls on Generation Next Basketball final today.

The final will dunk off at 3:00pm at the Ilupeju Basketball Court, Lagos. The four-day grassroots competition is sponsored by Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation. 

Nine Basketball Academies started the journey on Wednesday. Five clubs were in Group 1 while 4 teams slugged it out in Group 2.

Warriors Basketball Academy topped Group 1 with 7 points, winning three matches with NewSong in the second position. 

In the semifinal, Warriors humiliated group 2 runners-up, HeatKings (46-33) to qualify for today's final. Group 2 table toppers, Ravens who had 6 points to edge HeatKings (5 points) to second position beat NewSong to set up a final clash with Warriors.

Elated Nigeria Olympians Association President, Olumide Oyedeji who doubles as the organiser of the grassroots basketball championship said he is fulfilled ending the year with the grassroots basketball championship which serves as platform for young talents to showcase their skills and to further boost their careers.

"What a way to end the year nurturing youngsters! Journey of a thousand mile starts with a step. The future stars are here. The former D'Tigers captain said. 

The Third-Vice President of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) will also organise another grassroots basketball championship in the first week of January, 2023.
