Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho continued his fine run of form for Celtic, scoring in a 1–1 draw against Red Star Belgrade in their opening match of the UEFA Europa League group stage on Wednesday night, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 27-year-old, who has been influential for the Scottish champions in recent weeks, came off the bench at halftime and made an immediate impact, netting the opener in the 55th minute. The goal followed a dazzling run by Benjamin Nygren, who cut in from the right flank and slipped a precise pass into Iheanacho. The Super Eagles striker took a deft first touch before coolly finishing past the goalkeeper, sending the travelling Celtic fans into celebration.

The lead, however, lasted just ten minutes. Red Star equalised from a set piece, as a corner was knocked back into the danger zone and found Marko Anautović unmarked. The Serbian forward made no mistake from close range, slotting home to bring the hosts level.

Iheanacho had another golden opportunity to restore Celtic’s advantage in the 72nd minute, receiving a pass inside the box, but Red Star goalkeeper Nikola Vasiljević produced a brave save to deny him a second.

The result leaves Celtic sitting ninth in the early Europa League standings, with plenty left to play for in the group stage.

Iheanacho's contribution follows a string of strong performances, including a goal in Celtic’s dramatic win over Kilmarnock in the league and an assist in the 4–0 Scottish League Cup victory against Partick Thistle last weekend.

With momentum building, manager Brendan Rodgers will be encouraged by Iheanacho’s form as Celtic look ahead to their next European fixture.
