Referees Halt Services Over Unpaid Allowances

The Concerned Referees and Match Commissioners of Ghana (CRAMCOG) have formally notified the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of their decision to suspend their participation in the remainder of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

This action comes in response to a 21-week delay in the payment of officiating allowances, highlighting ongoing concerns about the treatment of match officials in the country.

In a letter dated April 27, 2025, CRAMCOG demanded fair treatment and emphasized that continued neglect undermines the integrity of the sport.

The group asserted that respect and proper compensation for referees and commissioners are essential to upholding the standards of the league.

They further warned that prolonged unpaid conditions could expose officials to undue external influences, potentially damaging the league's credibility.

A portion of the letter stated, “An empty sack cannot stand upright,” underscoring their appeal for urgent attention to the welfare of officiating personnel.
