Relegated Kano Pillars, Katsina United, Five Others Pick Aiteo Cup Quarterfinal Tickets

Nigeria National League bound Kano Pillars defeated DMD FC 2-0 in the Aiteo Cup Round of 16 to pick the quarter final ticket. Katsina United who were relegated at the end of the just-concluded 2021/22 NPFL season have also advanced to the quarterfinal after beating Sunshine Stars 5-4 on penalties after 1-1 draw at regulation time.

At the other center, Lobi Stars pipped Akure City 1-0 while Nasarawa United ended the dream of Bendel Insurance of winning the 2022 FA Cup with a 2-1 win. Wikki Tourists struggled into the last 8 after 5-4 triumph over El-Kanemi Warriors. The northern derby had ended in a barren draw before going into penalties. Heartland defeated Dakkada FC 5-4 while 2019 runners-up Niger Tornadoes pipped Green Beret 1-0.

Akwa United will slug it out with Kogi United in the Sunday last AITEO second Round fixture.
